| Bangor
is located at the upper end of the navigable portion of the Penobscot
River. Much of the home heating oil and petroleum distillate products
for northern Maine come in through the terminals in the Bangor area.
There is a federal navigation channel to Bangor providing -15 ft at
MLW. Bangor also attracts pleasure boating to the area during the
summers. |
